junior network/voip engineer

We currently have a new vacancy for an additional engineer within our technical team. The post is based at our Bletchley Park offices.

Definitely not your average corporate job, this position is ideal for an applicant with talent, enthusiasm and basic theoretical or practical knowledge of key networking technologies to gain experience and grow in a highly varied work environment.

Duties include supporting our reseller customers in the use of our IP telephony platform, fault finding, assisting with installation and configuration of equipment and testing interoperability with equipment from other vendors. For the right candidate with appropriate skills there are also opportunities to extend the role into product development.

The successful applicant will be joining an existing expert team who will be available to support and assist in developing appropriate technical and product specific knowledge. This role presents an ideal opportunity for a quick learner to gain experience and new skills in VoIP technologies. Because of this, large amounts of relevant experience are not pre-requisite, but the following fundamental skills are important:

  • Good understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals
  • Appropriate desktop skills based on a number of technologies including basic Microsoft products as well as Open software (Thunderbird, Open Office etc).
  • Basic knowledge of Linux or BSD based systems
  • At least an appreciation of VoIP fundamentals
  • A methodical approach to work and problem solving with an ability to learn very quickly
  • Good self-management skills: the ability to follow tasks from initial information gathering and planning through to successful completion without excessive supervision
  • Very high quality written and spoken English
