The Envoy™ intelligent geographic load-balancer
provides scalability and availability
across multiple server clusters located anywhere in the world.
Envoy is available as an add-on to E350 and E450 Equalizers. An Envoy-enabled Equalizer routes incoming
traffic among the widely-distributed servers,
using criteria such as network topology and site availability and performance to
determine which server is best equipped
to handle the next request. Envoy: Directing an Intercontinental Cluster
Under the direction of Envoy, a cluster of servers can be separated by
unlimited distances and operate on different networks. Envoy directs client
requests to the various server sites using the following criteria:
- Site availability. If a site is unavailable due to network outage, server
failure, or any other reason, Envoy routes requests to the surviving sites.
- Site performance. Using Equalizer's server performance algorithms, Envoy
keeps track of the load and performance at each site and weighs multiple
criteria to choose the optimal destination for each incoming request.
- Geographic distance. Envoy determines the site closest to each client and
can direct clients to the site offering the least network latency.
Load Balancing for Every Environment
Using Coyote Point's Geographic Query Protocol, Envoy maintains a consistent
and up-to-date picture of availability and performance of all servers,
regardless of physical location.
Envoy is easily installed on Coyote Point's E350 and E450 Equalizer load balancer products.
Envoy is Ideal For: - Global companies with site operations in multiple locations.
- Mission-critical sites for which high-availability and fault tolerance are essential.
